Professional Code of Conduct
The ATUCO Professional Code of Conduct is set forth to outline the expected behaviors and ethical standards to ensure, among other things, a safe, respectful, professional and productive environment for our members and those that we interact with in our official or implied capacity as an ATUCO member.
All members of ATUCO are expected to comply with the Professional Code of Conduct standards and are encouraged to strive to engage in higher standards of conduct beyond those that are specifically enumerated herein below. Moreover, it is important that the standards are upheld. When members fall short of upholding ATUCO’s Professional Code of Conduct or otherwise fails to merit the continued status as an ATUCO member, such instances will be reviewed for possible action, which may include revocation of member status in those cases where the behavior is deemed egregious.
1. Support Each Other
ATUCO members are committed to supporting one another. We are expected to interact and collaborate in a matter that prohibits intimidation and bias, but promotes the presentation of different ideas, as such an environment that inspires trust and allows ATUCO members to contribute while maintaining transparency.
2. Be Considerate and Respectful
ATUCO members understand that disagreement is inevitable. However, members will exhibit professional and respectful behavior at all times. We support an environment where members feel comfortable and productive. Differences of opinion are to be resolved respectfully and never with hostility.
3. Professional and Ethical Behavior
In the capacity of conducting ATUCO business, members are expected to maintain a professional demeanor in all interactions, both in person and electronically. Members are not to cross ethical lines, misrepresent the organization for personal gain, distort their status in the organization in efforts to support and enhance personal pursuits.
4. Honor Confidentiality
ATUCO is a space where opinions and ideas can be openly discussed. As a result, maintaining trust is very important. Each member is expected to keep confidential information discussed within designated meetings and among ATUCO members. A breach of confidentiality may result in revocation of membership.
5. Good-Faith Effort to Attend Meetings
ATUCO meetings are designed to discuss, among other topics, organizational business, new ideas, pending commitments, funding, etc. Presence at these meetings is important in that each member is considered an indispensable resource whose opinion, suggestion and/or feedback is considered valuable. Without the collective presence of ATUCO members during meetings, we deprive ourselves of diversity of thought and experience.
6. Making Promises that Cannot be Kept
It is essential that ATUCO members not make promises, especially those that you cannot fulfill. Promises foster expectations and when they are undeliverable it breaks trust, damages relationships and undermines the organization. False promises can also have legal and financial consequences.
